Laura Schonberg, Esq. was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Andrea Timerman, Esq. was born in  São Paulo, Brazil. These two young and innovative Florida based attorneys developed their passion for immigration law through their own immigration to the United States.

Although they can not agree about who has the world’s best soccer team, they make an unbeatable team when it is about representing their clients in their immigration matters. When Ms. Schonberg and Ms. Timerman met on their first day of Law School, they knew exactly what it would take to help others like themselves realize “the American Dream.”

After graduating Cum Laude, being admitted to the Florida Bar, and acquiring relevant immigration experience, the birth of Schonberg & Timerman, P.L. became inevitable. Thus, opening its doors in 2012.

About Andrea

Attorney Andrea Timerman was admitted to the Florida Bar in 2010, but her experience in immigration law comes before that time.

Originally from Brazil, Andrea immigrated to the U.S. in 2001. As an immigrant herself, she understands the challenges of moving to a new country to pursue a dream, and the importance of the immigration process in achieving that dream. Additionally, as an immigrant herself, she could experience the difficulties and barriers that exists in communicating with the attorney and understanding the process in order to make decisions. Thus, as part of her professional goal, Andrea pledges to provide good communication and information to her clients to help them understand and make informed decisions about their cases.

Besides her personal experience as in immigrant, Andrea has obtained professional immigration experience since Law school where she worked FIU’s Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, and at FIU’s Community Development Clinic. She also interned in worked in prominent immigration law firms in Miami where she gained valuable experience before opening her law firm with her partner Laura Schonberg in 2012.

At Schonberg & Timerman PL, Andrea has been successfully representing clients in their diverse immigration matters including business immigration, family immigration, investment immigration, human trafficking, VAWA, DACA, TPS, naturalization, and others. 

Today, Ms. Timerman balances her job as an attorney at Schonberg & Timerman, P.L. with her life as a wife and mother.

Andrea is an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) and Florida Bar since 2010 and is a Notary Public for the State of Florida. She has a Law Degree from Florida International University College of Law (2009) where she received the Dean’s Scholarship, Dean’s List recognition, and graduated Cum Laude in the top 10% of her class. She has a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Pace University (2006) in New York City, where she graduated Suma Cum Laude. 

Andrea is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and speaks French.  Her multiculturalism goes beyond speaking the language, but actually living in different cities around the world, including Sao Paulo, Paris, Sevilla, New York and Miami.

About Laura

LAURA SCHONBERG is a native of Argentina where she began her studies toward a juris doctor degree at Universidad de Buenos Aires. Circumstances made her immigrate to the United States when she was 20 years old.  Since then, and despite completing her studies, becoming a U.S. citizen, meeting the love of her life  and raising three American born children in the United States, in her heart she has always felt “an immigrant.” While she is forever grateful for the opportunity and many blessings of becoming an American citizen and considers this country her forever home, she deeply understands the suffering and sacrifices of the many people who have been driven from their homes or taken the difficult decision to settle down in a new country looking for a better life.

Laura’s collaborative approach,  her deep knowledge and experience in the field together with her empathy and respect for her clients make her lawyering style a unique and valuable asset.

Laura  graduated Cum Laude from the Florida International University College of Law in August 2009 and was admitted to the Florida Bar in May 2010. While in law school, she received the Book Award in the Immigrant Children’s Justice Clinic, and was also recognized with the Excellence in Service to the Clinical Program Award, and the Dean’s List. Furthermore, she participated in the Whittier School of Law Summer Abroad program in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

In 2012 Laura partnered with Andrea to open Schonberg & Timerman, P.L. where she successfully represented hundreds of clients in obtaining U.S. visas, green cards, and citizenship. 

Laura is a Notary Public of the State of Florida and is bilingual in Spanish and English with working knowledge of Hebrew and Brazilian Portuguese. She is also an active member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

 

Today, Laura  balances her job as an attorney at Schonberg & Timerman, P.L. with her love for traveling, yoga practicing, and raising her three children together with her husband.
